Restoration Projects

Specter Courts

In 2015, a significant gift from Shanin and Tracey Specter sponsored the construction of three new squash courts on the second floor of the Racquet Club.  The addition of new squash courts has made it possible for the RC Fund to develop a youth education program that benefits at-risk youth.

Doubles Squash Court

In 2017, the RC Fund funded the replacement of the Doubles Squash Court flooring and repairs to the front wall.

Grille Room

In 2017, the RC Fund sponsored the restoration of the Grille Room.   Light fixtures were repaired, Mercer tiles were restored, and new paint was applied throughout the space.

Main Dining Room and Lobby 

In 2018, the RC Fund financed the restoration of the Main Dining Room and Lobby walls and wainscotting.  Significant repairs were made to the wainscotting panels and plaster throughout the entire space.

Coal Vault Project

In 2018, degradation of foundational support beams was discovered in the sub-basement of the Racquet Club.  The RC Fund provided financial assistance to the Racquet Club to infill the empty vaults which stabilized and preserved the structural integrity of the historic Clubhouse.

Dressing Rooms

In 2020, the RC Fund raised funds to support a transformative renovation of the Women’s Dressing Room.  New shower stalls, lighting fixtures, window treatments, carpet and paint vastly improved the overall aesthetic of the space.  The RC Fund also financed the plaster repair and painting of walls throughout the entire Men’s Dressing Room.

Family Changing Room

The RC Fund fully financed the creation of the Family Changing Room in 2020.  Formerly a long-term residential apartment for members only, the space was transformed into a Family Changing Room to be utilized by families and participants of the RC Fund’s summer program participants.
